Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 118:1
Before each meal, Dad led our family in the “Come, Lord Jesus” prayer, sometimes called the “Common Table Prayer.” After we had finished, Dad prayed, “Oh, give thanks ...” Those prayers were anchors for us eight kids which connected us to our heavenly Father, who provided for our needs and loved us through our earthly father and mother, through good times and tough times.
The older I become, the more I appreciate my parents who raised me to give thanks despite the circumstances. While I lose strength and energy, and pick up a few aches and pains, I give thanks to God for protecting and providing for me as I age.

Thank you, Father, for those who modeled faithfulness to you in all circumstances. Teach me to trust in you, giving thanks always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflect: Share with a friend how God helps you. Invite them to join you in giving thanks.
