In my distress, I called upon the Lord ...
Psalm 18:6
The call was unexpected. “Lisa’s asked for a divorce.” Stunned silence on our end of the call! The pain and catch in our son’s voice were unmistakable. Our hearts were breaking. Figuring out how to love and support our son while living thousands of miles away wasn’t easy. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit touched Jason’s church community. They became HIS heart, hands, and feet as he navigated his way to wholeness.
When sharing his journey, from technology expert to specific ministry pastor, I’m in awe! Initially feeling God was reproaching him, then getting into the Word, reconciling himself to God’s plan, and finally opening his heart to this plan, he was renewed and felt set apart to serve!
It’s a joy to hear his response when things are challenging, “I’m Ok. God has got this!”

Holy Spirit, renew us daily through your Word for joyful service. Amen.
Reflect: Think of a time when you witnessed a family member’s renewal.
