Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:24
The words we use either honor or dishonor God, ourselves, and others. So, at every moment, let’s choose words of kindness that uplift and connect us with God as we interact with family, friends, neighbors, and strangers.
The words the Lord placed in our hearts and our minds hold great power. Language can heal and unite, but if we feel tired, fearful, or bitter we may lash out, intentionally or unintentionally, at those in our path. Angry, hurtful remarks insult and inflict emotional pain, so it is especially important to pause in God’s wisdom before speaking or sending any electronic communications under the veil of anonymity. Let’s strive to bring love, not pain, with the words we share with one another.

Gracious God, thank you for the gift of our words. May we always use them wisely and well. Amen.
Reflect: How can we repair misunderstandings and communicate kindly and effectively?
