“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29
One weekday afternoon, a mother and her young daughter entered our church office. “She wants to see what’s in your castle,” the mom explained. “She likes the pretty windows.”
As I led them into the sanctuary, I explained: “This is our church, it is where we worship God. Each of the windows reminds us of something God has done for us. This is where we feel close to him.”
We are blessed to have so many concrete reminders of God’s continuing love for us in our churches. The cross, altar, banners, baptismal font, wine, bread, and other items help to make God’s message of love real. We feel his presence among us when we gather there. We are blessed, indeed!
