Trusting in God’s Plans

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord ...

Jeremiah 29:11

When life isn’t going our way, many people struggle with trusting God. Maybe we are thinking that since this is our life, it should be like we planned it. Unfortunately, God does not always follow our plans, but he does give us a Bible verse for reassurance amid our doubt.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). This has been my favorite Bible verse for years. Even though I may not know what is going on, God does. He assures me that he has my back and will not let anything harm me.

Celeste Cummins
Storm Lake, IA

Dear Father, thank you for planning for my future, even when I cannot understand it. Amen.

Reflect: Think back to a time you were struggling. Recall how God got you through it.

Read: Jeremiah 29:11-14a and James 4:13-17
