“Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.”
Revelation 3:19
Some of us may question the word discipline. In our Christian environment, the 10 commandments can guide us. The Apostle John is sharing with the church in Laodicea that love is the reason for us to be disciplined or reproved. Jesus invites the Christians to realize that hardships happen for a reason. Through our experiences, we mature and grow for the greater events that are planned for us.
Jesus went to the cross, dying, and rising for us to receive forgiveness of our daily sin. We are renewed so we may live a peace-filled life.
The church in our text did not know that God was treating those he loves as his own son. We are reproved and disciplined so that one may be reconciled, brought back, and then renewed.
