... this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
1 John 5:4
Cinco de Mayo is a National Day of Celebration in Mexico. A great victory was won that day in 1862 when the outnumbered people won a great victory over the invading army. Every county has their victory celebrations.
When Jesus hung on the cross, he seemed to be outnumbered by all the forces of evil. But his death and resurrection brought victory to all people in the forgiveness of sins. We often feel outnumbered. Our physical strength fails. Our minds can’t keep up. Even our spirit cries out for help. We read our Bible and devotions. We sing a hymn of faith. We have the victory in our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the victory we celebrate in our body, mind, and spirit every day.

Lord of the nations, when we feel outnumbered by troubles, help us to see your victory for us in body, mind, and spirit. Amen.
