“Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”
Luke 17:13b
The narrative of ten men suffering from the deadly disease of leprosy is a reminder that Jesus hears our prayers and our cries for help and healing. Suffering from the disease of sin and its consequences, we pleadingly call out, “Jesus, Lord, have mercy!” Hearing our cries for help, Jesus went to the cross so that we might live, his sacrificial love freeing us from our sin and its eternal consequences.
Gifted with his saving grace, let us follow the lone leper, gratefully returning to the foot of the cross, humbled by the magnitude of our Savior’s sacrificial love. Let us go to him again and again with gratitude for his amazing grace, inviting others to join us, so they also know with certainty the healing love of Jesus for eternity.
