Little children, you are from God ... he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 4:4
Who do you listen to? In confirmation class, it was pretty much a given that whatever we asked our pastor, his response was something like “Turn to John 1:1.” It’s good to know where to look for answers.
When tempted, the world advises, “Just do what feels good.” When in despair, the world says, “God doesn’t love you.” Ask the world, “Who is God?” and it scoffs, “There is no God!” Believers know where, and to whom we can turn for true answers to tough questions of life ... God and his Word. Holy scripture imparts knowledge, understanding, hope, comfort, trustworthy direction, and wisdom for a life in Christ. It is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17), protection against the evil one.

Lord, help me continue to mature in faith through your word. Amen.
Reflect: How does God speak of maturity in his Word?
