But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18a
As a secretary at three different churches, I’ve come across many older Christians. I’ve noticed something about each of them. They all seem to have a worry-free sort of existence. Oh, it’s not that they do not have problems or health issues, because I know many of them do. However, those pale in comparison to the knowledge and assurance they have about our Savior.
These older members have been through many challenges in life. Many of them grew up during the Great Depression and during the World Wars, so they know what struggle and uncertainty is. The majority of them have already seen their spouses die (and in some cases, even some of their children). Yet, their faith remains the glue that holds them together, despite all these storms of life.

Dear Lord, thank you for the wonderful example of older Christian mentors in my life. Amen.
