Soon and Very Soon

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

Revelation 22:20

Years ago, I learned a gospel song with simple lyrics and a catchy tune: “Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King.” Often sung in Advent, gospel singer and pastor Andraé Crouch wrote the song with Revelation 21:3-4 and its reference to Christ’s final coming in mind. That explains why the next two verses are “no more crying there, we are going to see the king” and “no more dying there, we are going to see the king.”

That got me thinking: Maybe I should begin every day singing this song. For all I know, my final day on earth might be soon and very soon indeed. What I do know for sure is that because of Christ, I will live forever where there is no more crying and no more dying. What an amazing comfort.

Lord Jesus, come soon, very soon. Amen.

Reflect: Are you ready to meet your Savior?
