And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.

In 40 years of ministry my husband has preached from the aisle, but since his knees have been hurting, he has preached from the pulpit. After a recent visit to the orthopedic surgeon, and discussing a plan of care, I asked him what will be the first thing he will do with his new knees. His immediate response was, “Walk down the aisle and preach!”

After Jesus healed her, Peter’s mother-in-law got off her sickbed and prepared a meal for Jesus and his disciples. It was her instinct to serve her Lord in the way that came naturally. Jesus said it was his joy to serve the Father by coming to earth and we can serve the Lord from what we love as well.
