Seeking Comfort from Jesus
11 12 23 HFL
November 12, 2023

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

“I wanna hold you, Mommy, I wanna hold you,” my toddler cried as she ran across the lawn. Her words were twisted, but I knew what she meant. She wanted the comfort and safety of my arms after something had frightened her. I can identify, especially as I age. When I am frightened, ill, or upset, I long to have my Savior’s loving arms around me, so I go to him in prayer. He is always there to calm and comfort. As the familiar hymn says, “In his arms he’ll take and shield thee. Thou wilt find a solace there.”

What a blessing to know that! He is never asleep or far away. His loving care surrounds me night and day, at home and away.

Dear Jesus, help us to know that we can cast ALL our burdens upon you. Amen.

Reflect: Think about a time when you sought and received comfort from Jesus.

Read: Psalm 86:7 and 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
