Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

Reaching back into the storage closet of my mind, I recall that ever present can of Renuzit Spot Remover sitting on a shelf in the laundry of my childhood home. Periodically, my clothes got stained with grease or grime and mom would pull down the can of Renuzit, and with an old rag “lift” that ugly spot away and restore the pants or shirt to its former clean state.

Daily, our lives stained with the filth of our slips, slides, stumblings, and just plain sin, make our attire dirty, ugly, and unworthy. But then there is Jesus. Yes, Jesus. How I love to say that name! God’s mighty act of grace gave his Son that we might be washed clean and once again be clothed in a Robe of Righteousness.

Don Luepke
Fremont, IN

Lord, what sigh of relief fills my heart as I think on your wondrous cleansing of my sin. Amen.

Reflect: Place a container of spot remover on your nightstand as a reminder of God’s renewal.

Read: Isaiah 61:10 and Revelation 7:13-14
