Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:16
When my daughter left for college, my husband and I found ourselves with an empty nest and an equally empty social calendar. Our free time had been filled with our children’s activities, but now we were free to pursue our own interests.
Instead of filling our nights with television and social media, we set out to learn new skills and hobbies we could leverage for the kingdom. First, we joined Toastmasters International to improve our speaking ability. David learned to play disc golf and shared his faith with the other players. We volunteered for new ministries at church. As we approach “retirement” age, we’re looking forward to even more time to use our minds and bodies to serve the kingdom.

Dear Father, show me new learning opportunities I can leverage for your kingdom. Amen.
Reflect: What new skill or hobby can you learn that will make you a better ambassador for God’s kingdom?
