Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved ... rightly handling the word of truth.
2 Timothy 3:15
The other day I was looking through the books of a retired schoolteacher. I opened his old Bible and discovered that he precisely marked certain verses of Scripture. He marked familiar passages such as John 3:16, but I noticed that he also marked some passages that weren’t so familiar, such as 2 Timothy 3:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved ... rightly handling the word of truth.” I thought he was rightly handling God’s Word as he marked these verses to apply them to himself and reflect anew about God’s forgiveness given to sinners through Jesus Christ.
We probably own a family Bible that is spotless, but why not have a “handled Bible” that we can read, mark, and learn?

Dear Father, help me to handle your Word that I may be renewed today as your child. Amen.
Reflect: If you were going to mark special Bible verses, which ones would you choose?
