Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
Thousands in our community lost power for two days last week. Our meals consisted of peanut butter sandwiches and snacks. In the evening, we tried to read by candlelight but were frustrated. We recognized our helplessness. Without power, life was different and took more effort.
How often do we live without God’s power in our lives? We try to manage alone. Helpless, we become frustrated and make poor decisions. Relationships take effort.
God stands ready to meet us with his power, wisdom, guidance, and comfort. By committing to prayer and Bible reading on a daily basis, we keep him as our active power source. We can be confident he will lead us along the right path, even if it is by candlelight.

Dear Father, help me to rely on you as my power source rather than go my own way. Amen.
