Not a Robot

... where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17

On some websites, the user must check the square next to the statement I am not a robot. It concerns me that we have to do that, but it also articulates a gift that is fundamental to our faith. God designed into us the ability to choose. We have the ability to take ourselves to the heights of achievement or plunge ourselves to the abyss.

Enter Jesus, the only human form able to adhere to God’s intentions for the human race. He brings forgiveness, making it possible for us to rise from the ashes of sin. With confession and repentance, we learn and find strength to serve and obey, even if we fall and have to claw our way up again. Praise the Lord!

Judy Scherr
Lemay, MO

Forgiving God, your love for us is immeasurable. Keep our hearts penitent and our sights on Jesus. Amen.

Reflect: A robot is programmed; we are not. Which is easier?

Read: Psalm 146:5-7 and 2 Corinthians 3:12-17
