“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
John 14:26
Have you ever muttered something like, “Where is a friend when you really need one?” Is there a time when you didn’t even think about such a plea, and you should have?
Jesus was concerned about his disciples feeling abandoned. He knew they would feel abandoned, wondering where Jesus was when they really needed him. So, Jesus took the time and care to assure them, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you (John 14:18). That was one of many times that God comforted and promised his presence to his followers. Jesus is a powerful presence — all the time. But you won’t find him on a cross or in an empty grave. He lives in you, ever protected, and cared for by the Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus, send the Spirit to help — even when I forget to ask! Amen.
Reflect: What “evidence” do you have that “the Helper” is with you?
