My Shepherd and Rescuer

As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places ...

Ezekiel 34:12

My brothers and sisters scattered from our farm and hometown for education, jobs, and adventures. Now I see my children and grandchildren scattering to new places. The tight-knit family and community that our parents knew and envisioned did not last long.

This Bible verse assures me that God knows where his children have sojourned, and he will find them wherever they land. He will rescue them during times of darkness.

As a child of God, I trust his words. Too often I don’t see clouds and darkness brewing nearby, yet I know Jesus, my Shepherd, is with me as I journey through life and when it’s time to go home.

MaryAnn Sundby
Castle Rock, CO

Dear Savior and Faithful Shepherd, thank you for your promise to seek me out and rescue me when darkness and clouds surround me. Amen.

Reflect: What words describe how God is working in you?

Read: Ezekiel 34:11-16 and Luke 19:8-10
