Maintaining Relationships With God

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Proverbs 28:13

I once worked at a manufacturing plant. One day, I learned that I would have to give a key customer some disappointing news. There would be an unforeseen delay in the delivery of parts needed for his project. Concerned, that evening I sought advice from my father. After listening, he said, “You cannot communicate a problem without offering a solution.” The next day, my staff and I revised our work schedule. I notified the customer of the problem and humbly apologized for it. He forgave us and accepted our new plan. We maintained a strong partnership with him after that. The same is true with God. If we offer repentance for our sins, God will pardon us for them. As a result, we will strengthen our bond with him.

Robert Gilbert

Dear Father, please help me avoid the temptation to do wrong. Amen.

Reflect: You can reconcile and renew your relationship with God through daily prayer.
