Luther’s Morning Prayer
5 8 24 HFL
May 8, 2024

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever.

Psalm 89:1

Several years ago, my friend, Margaret, sent me Luther’s Morning Prayer in music. It’s beautiful! Composer Carl Schalk wrote it. Participants in a Lutheran Summer Music program at Valparaiso sing it.

Previously, as I arose, I often just started with my morning tasks ... make the bed, brush teeth, get dressed, make the coffee. However, now I intentionally make time to listen, and even sing along, and chills often run through me.

What a way to begin a morning, inviting my Good Father to share the day with me, and reminding me whose I am ... his beloved, forgiven child!

It doesn’t get much better than that, now does it!

Louise Schini Weber

Lord, music is good! Thanks for bringing folks into our lives who share your story through music. Amen.

Reflect: How do you invite our Good Father into your morning?

Read: Psalm 95 and Psalm 98
