Lonely and Hard Times

I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord ...

1 Timothy 1:12

Today is a day to remember all the blessings that we have been given. Yet, there are many who have no one to share this day with, feel isolated, or are experiencing difficult times this Thanksgiving. It is at these times that we must remember that our Lord promises that he is with us and will give us strength to move beyond our circumstances.

Many of the challenges we face cannot be eliminated instantly, but they can be removed one piece at a time, one day at a time. Jesus said “... do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself” (Matthew 6:34). May we be able to give thanks in all circumstances, even in the lonely and hard times.

Mike Lutz
Youngsville, NC

Heavenly Father, help me firmly believe that you are with me and give me a thankful heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflect: Make a list of your blessings and thank the Lord for them.

Read: Psalm 136 and Matthew 6:25-34
