My times are in your hand ...

Psalm 31:15

Read the verse, “My times are in your hand” (Psalm 31:15). Is there any statement, anywhere, in any context, truer than that one?

I am a retired pastor. I’ve been a pastor for 63 years. The last time I led worship in a church was on Christmas Eve, 2023, at age 90. What one learns, what I learned over the years, is the wisdom of what the Psalmist wrote about so long ago. Our time and our length of days are the Lord’s.

Along the way we should be engaged in finding love. We should find ways to give of ourselves, not just for a paycheck, but for the opportunities to give and share with all people. And we will discover, as time rolls on, that the value of our time, thought, energy, and commitment are given to the things of God.

Jerry Groth
Jackson, WI

Lord God, fill my life with opportunities to serve you and others. Amen.

Reflect: Think about the content of your life, what it means to others, and what it means to you.

Read: Psalm 62:5-12 and Psalm 90:1-12
