Keeping in His Love

November 14, 2023

Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Jude 1:21

So many things change with the passing years. Work and recreation become more challenging. Family and friends move away. Some of them move on to their eternal home. Quality of life seems diminished. Yet, in the life of a Christian, mercy and hope keep arriving in abundance through God’s love.

Life isn’t empty when we remember that “God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit” (Romans 5:5). We can stop feeling vulnerable when hearing the psalmist say, “You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me” (Psalm 139:5). Life is best when we gratefully grasp the words of 2 Thessalonians 3:5, “May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”

Marj Maynard
Pipe Creek, TX

Lord God, keep me in your love and mercy today. Amen.

Reflect: Bible study, prayer, and worship, with the Spirit, will keep you in God’s love.

Read: Psalm 33:18-22 and Proverbs 3:1-6
