It’s a New Day

“For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Jeremiah 31:34b

“Today is the first day of the rest of my life.” To me, that means the past is gone forever. Starting today, I can strive to do better in my Christian life and service and in whatever other areas I want to improve. It’s just that simple. God chooses to remove our transgressions from us “as far as the east is from the west.” Every day my baptismal washing is renewed and my relationship with my Lord is restored. I need not grieve past sins and wrongs. Penitent and forgiven, I am free to live each day in loving service to him and all those with whom I come in contact.

Harriet Monn Stennfeld
Fort Wayne, IN

Father, as we love and serve each day, may we live in the present, look to the future, and leave the past forever behind. Amen.

Reflect: After repenting, know you are forgiven, and don’t let the past continue to condemn you.

Read: Psalm 103:12 and 2 Corinthians 4:16
