... if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
1 John 5:14a
In my latter years as a teenager, I wondered why my mother sat at the kitchen table late at night, while I was watching television. When I finally asked her, she said she was talking to God. As senior adults in retirement, the Lord has granted you the blessing of “extra time.” Whether it’s the first thing in the morning or the last thing in the evening, carve out some time to talk with the Lord. A good guideline to use is the acronym ACTS:
Adoration
Confession
Thanksgiving
Supplication
God is listening for he tells us, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17a), and “Call upon me in the day of trouble” (Psalm 50:15a). Whatever the situation, lean on him and he will answer in his time.
