And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.
1 Kings 19:12
When you’ve endured an illness or loss (wind), or feel drained by constant busy-ness (earthquake), or are overwhelmed by the daunting task before you (fire), how do you renew your strength? From where do you draw your refreshment? For me, renewal is found amid the stillness of the gentle whispers of our Savior as I sit silently before him ... just listening. It’s truly a lost art since life’s pace has become faster than ever. Purposefully scheduled white space on my monthly calendar is needed.
Your renewal method may be different than mine, but it’s a vital part of our spiritual growth — and Elijah experienced it too! Come to Jesus for his teachings. Linger with Jesus for his peace. Stay with Jesus to bask in the true Son of God!

Whispering Jesus, thank you for renewing me in the silence. Amen.
