I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8
I once learned that I would be promoted at work. An announcement was then emailed to all staff.
Many people congratulated me. My joy was short-lived as I realized that I was responsible for several hundred employees. They depended on me to make wise decisions.
I experienced many sleepless nights filled with anxiety. I then remembered that the Bible says that “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe” (Proverbs 29:25). I prayed every night for guidance. I made the best decisions that I could.
Just as a good shepherd does not abandon his flock, I knew that Jesus, my Good Shepherd, would not abandon me. With God by my side, I succeeded. I soon slept better.

Dear Father, thank you for teaching me that a good shepherd ensures the welfare of his flock. Amen.
Reflect: How have God’s whispers helped you when you have been troubled in the past?
