For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Romans 3:28
Martin Luther’s early years were dark. He was plagued by the guilt of his sin, rightly understanding that he did not, and could not live up to God’s standards. Nor can we.
Seeing this truth clearly brings us to our knees before Almighty God trusting his grace, that unearned, unchanging love. Grace is ours through the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. We cling to Jesus by faith, a gift of God’s Holy Spirit. Scripture reveals our Lord and all he has done for us. Luther used Scripture to show the people of his time and our time that it is by grace alone, faith alone, and Scripture alone that we walk in the light of God, here in time and there in eternity.

Dear Lord Jesus, grant us grace to live in your light. Amen.
Reflect: Who else needs the relief of God’s forgiveness? Pass it on.
