Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23
While it’s not exactly a Bible phrase, get a grip is a modern-day way of expressing vital words of encouragement from scripture, such as hold fast and stand firm. So, in troubled times, on what are we to get a grip? Certainly not anything or any person on earth. Today’s verse urges us to “hold fast to the confession of our hope.” That hope encompasses all of God’s promises, through the saving work of Jesus, and the promises yet to come.
When daily life overwhelms and spiritual life needs a boost, get a grip on Jesus’ words in Revelation 3:11, “I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.”
