Live as people who are free ... living as servants of God.
1 Peter 2:16
Before God gave his commandments to the people of Israel, he reminded his people of what he has done for them. He was the God who brought them out of slavery in Egypt. They were his treasured possession, people set free to love him and to love their neighbors as they loved themselves.
We have been set free from slavery to sin through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul reminds us not to use our freedom to serve our own desires, “but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). Our Lord has called us to be his holy people and he has set us free for a life of service in his name!
Jesus, lead me to serve you by serving others. Amen.
Reflect: Watch for opportunities to serve your neighbor in love.
