Devotions > Fall is a Four-Letter Word
Fall is a Four-Letter Word
10 21 24 HFL

“... Because you have done this, cursed are you ...”

Genesis 3:14a

Fall is another word for autumn, the season we are in right now. Fall can also refer to the way we became sinful human beings. For many, fall is a “four-letter word” as we fear losing our balance and landing on the ground.

Our rehab centers are filled with people dealing with results of a fall. It is a real fear! The good news is that despite our human frailties, which cause us to “fall” literally, God has freed us from our “fall” into sin. We may still fall on the ground and experience injury, but because of God’s gift of Jesus, we no longer live with the consequences of our sin. We are free from the worst fall of all!

Margaret Hinchey
Loveland, CO

Lord, keep us upright in our daily walk so we may rejoice in freedom from our fall into sin. Amen.

Reflect: When are times that you have felt yourself falling away from God?
