For everything there is a season ...
Ecclesiastes 3:1
As we traverse the dog days of summer, we probably dread the days of hot, humid, stormy weather that typifies this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. Ancients thought dog days were caused by the rise of Sirius in the night sky, bringing not just unstable weather, but also drought, bad luck, and sickness.
We know that stars rising do not cause bad things to happen. Since the fall, calamities are part of our world because of sin. Adam and Eve were cast out into a harsh world to make their way because of sin.
Luckily for us, God did not leave us alone in our sin. When the season was right; he gifted us with Jesus to redeem us. When the season was right, the Holy Spirit led us to believe. When the season is right, we will join him in heaven.
