For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand ...
Ephesians 2:10
“I can’t do what I used to do.” As our years accumulate, we tend to accumulate lists of activities we can no longer do.
But whatever our age, we’re still God’s workmanship; he knows our physical bodies inside and out. And whatever our frailties, there are still things we can do. In fact, God has “prepared beforehand” — custom designed — good works for each of us, each day. Perhaps today it’s to call someone who’s lonely, to complement the store clerk, to expand my prayers, or to be extra kind to my spouse or neighbor. Seeing those opportunities flows from dwelling on God’s grace, just as Ephesians 2:10 flows from grace-filled verses 8 and 9.

Lord, you have custom-designed me for the good works you have custom-designed for me. Lead me to walk in them. Amen.
Reflect: Dwell a full minute on God’s grace, then pray the prayer above.
