Cherish God’s Loving Presence

But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge ...

Psalm 73:28

I recently saw a sign outside a nearby church that said, “If you don’t feel close to God, who moved?” God is eternally present. Some people, however, distance themselves from him. This can occur for several reasons. They may take him for granted, are distracted by other priorities, or think they have no need for him. Others feel unworthy of his help. God always invites people to know him better. He is as patient as he is loving. In life’s highs and lows, and in ordinary and transcendent moments, God can touch our hearts. Let us respond to his call to be close to him.

Jan Kilby
San Antonio, TX

Dear Lord, thank you for hearing my prayers and granting my petitions. Your gifts of grace have enabled me to lead a more virtuous life and to look forward to my heavenly reward. Amen.

Reflect: Think about times that you have sensed God’s presence and what they mean to you.

Read: Hebrews 13:8 and Psalm 145:18
