And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.

Job 42:12

Just when we think all the best things or days are behind us, God has more in store for us. Ministry has meant being separated from family, including our
adult children and grandchildren. A few years ago, we were able to relocate and move closer to them even though it meant we had to commute to our church each week. In the past, we have missed important dates and milestones. What an unexpected joy it is to be able to attend plays and be part of celebrations with them. We did not plan it this way, but God used my husband’s health crisis to bring it about. Daily we are reminded that what God told Job is for all of us as we live out our lives and continue aging.

Gracious God, we are thankful for untapped and unexpected blessings you provide us even as we age. Amen.

Reflect: Encourage someone who has lost hope of experiencing anything new in their old age.

Read: Luke 2:25-35 and Psalm 71:18
