Blessed to Serve

I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

1 Corinthians 9:23

Recently I had a squabble with my husband about housecleaning. I was wrong and I regret my foolishness. Later that day I read Psalm 100 and found God’s council to address even this! God instructs me to serve him with gladness, not with complaints.

Our Maker has given each of us many earthly blessings, but tasks and responsibilities are part of those blessings. God tells me repeatedly, through hearing his Word, that he is near. He is beside me as I serve him in big or small tasks. The Holy Spirit enlightens me with an attitude of gladness and thanksgiving when I work throughout the day, serving the Lord and his people everywhere.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for so many blessings. Thank you for the daily tasks that come with those blessings. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Reflect: How can you daily serve the Lord with gladness and focus on the hope that he gives?

Read: Psalm 100 and 1 Corinthians 16:14
