Therefore God has ... bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow ... and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:8-11
We begin every year exactly where the salvation story ends. Jesus, “the God who saves” was given that name because the Angel Gabriel told both Mary and Joseph to name him so. Soon, others found his saving name as well, including Shepherds, Wise Men, and even you.
Will this be a year others find Jesus? Yes, if they hear of him. Perhaps it’s time to share the name of Jesus with others. He is much more than a baby in a manger or the reason for the season. Jesus is true God in human flesh, born for all, yet who died for all. We bow at his name, praying others join us soon!

Jesus, Light of Light, hear us as we begin a new year in your holy name. Let your name be proclaimed into all the earth for the salvation of many. Amen.
Reflect: Is my life a godly example of faith in Jesus to my children, grandchildren, and others in my life?
