Therefore encourage one another and build one another up ...
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Every day — not just on Sundays — we have a greeter at our church who welcomes anyone who comes to our campus. Matt is our building supervisor. He doesn’t just mop floors and clean windows. Matt cares about every person who enters “his” building. He calls them by name, he knows what they need, and he helps them.
Matt visits people in their homes, runs errands, and drives people when they need a ride. Matt is a cheerleader for those who are lonely, sad, or disabled. He encourages everyone and promises to pray for them.
God is our encourager as he walks with us each day and promises us a bright “forever” with him. In this new year, let’s encourage others in their daily walk and humbly serve them. Let’s be like Matt!

Lord, help me be a cheerleader for someone who needs you today. Amen.
Reflect: Think of someone who may need to be uplifted today and make a phone call.
