An Unexpected Ministry

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 11:25

When God moved us to a new church, I asked him to show me where he wanted me to serve. As time passed, I felt my heart drawn to our pastors’ wives — those amazing women who minister to their husbands and the church in so many ways with so little support. I started looking for ways to thank them; shared encouraging verses or brought them goodies from my kitchen or garden. I invited them to lunch and asked how I could pray for them — and I did — almost every morning. Sometimes I texted them to remind them I was praying for them and wish them a good day. We’ve been attending our church for a year now, and I serve in several ministries. My favorite is looking for ways to encourage our pastors’ wives.

Father, show me thoughtful ways to encourage our pastors’ wives. Amen.

Reflect: Ask God what you can do to encourage your pastors’ wives, then do it.

Read: Ephesians 4:32 and Matthew 24:40
