“... walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments ... then I will lengthen your days.”
1 Kings 3:14
“I am getting old.” I like to say, “You’re not old, just vintage.” The years make us wiser. We can listen, encourage, help, advise, but most important, we can equip others to lead and live a Christ-centered life.
At seven I lost my dad. God sent me our pastor to show and mentor me with encouragement, help, direction, and to lead me to live a Christ-centered life.
God didn’t make a mistake about old age. He planned a time of accumulated experience from a life spent with him. God has a purpose in our “vintage years.” Not lording it over others, but helping, mentoring, encouraging, and above all, telling of his faithfulness.
With God’s help, we’re able to encourage others in their times of trouble by prayer, care, and encouragement.

Father, thank you for “vintage years” and your love and direction. Amen.
Reflect: How can you lead a Christ-centered life?
