The Rev. Thomas Eggold is one of our regular pastors on Worship Anew. Learn more about him in this Q&A.
How did you receive your call to be a pastor?
I am a fifth-generation pastor, but when I was growing up, I didn’t want to be a pastor. The Lord used many people and experiences to put me in a position where it became clear to me that He was preparing me to serve as a pastor.
What does it mean to you to be a pastor?
Pastors proclaim the Law and Gospel through preaching, teaching, and pastoral care that helps people to identify and understand their predicament as sinful people, and then clearly points them to Jesus Christ where God has reconciled the world to Himself. This, of course, includes the person who is receiving your preaching, teaching, and care.
How long have you been serving on Worship Anew?
I have been serving at Worship Anew since 2018.
Why did you first decide to join Worship Anew?
I accepted the invitation to serve as a preacher at Worship Anew with the hope that my preaching could be used to serve people outside of my congregation with a message that provided spiritual comfort by pointing them to Jesus.
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska, and later attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind.
What’s your favorite food?
All of it.
What’s your favorite vacation spot?
Anywhere with my wife.
What’s a fun fact that would surprise people about you?
I enjoy linocut printmaking.
