The Elephant in the Room

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost - Sermon Text: Jeremiah 28:5-9; Readings: Psalm 119:153-160; Jeremiah 28:5-9; Matthew 10:34-42
The Lord calls us to follow Him. This is difficult in a world that is against Christ. Yet, in Jesus, we have peace with Him in a hostile world.
Mourning and Comforting
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4
I’ve been to lots of funerals. The best and most comforting ones are where Jesus is talked about the most. It is good to remind the people at the funeral of the good things about the person who has died, but it should never be the last word. The best, most fitting, last words are, “Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!”
