We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

As children, we waited for the sure sign of spring: Wish flowers. Make a wish and blow! We wished for toys and treats. Expectations were low. As grown ups, we realize the only certainty in these wishes is more dandelions. Thankfully, we don’t rely on wishes for God’s promises.

As children of God, we place our hope in the Lord. In Hebrews 6:19, Paul compared this hope to an anchor for our soul. It is firm and secure, keeping us rooted in the truth of the Gospel. Expectations are high. We believe that Jesus loves us, died for us, and promises us eternal life with Him. Unlike a wish, which can be unrealistic or impossible, our hope in the Lord is certain. It is a true anchor for our faith.

God of Hope, please send Your Spirit to daily strengthen my faith in Your promises. Amen.

Reflect: Thank God for the many ways He has showed His great love for you today.
