Oh, how abundant is your goodness ...
Psalm 31:19
Why give? Why should anyone share assets? Why not keep it all?
God does tell us to give. Scripture has many verses that exhort readers to give. Look at Malachi 3:10, Matthew 22:21, or 1 and 2 Corinthians. But here’s a better reason: my giving can make a positive difference in another’s life. My gift, even if it’s a small gift, when added with other gifts, can accomplish great things. My gift can make a difference.
Here’s the best reason to give: God has given me so much. There’s talent, abilities, relationships, family, health, and wealth. Then there’s God’s forgiving love, salvation, open arms — those, too, are God’s gifts to each of us.
God has given everything to me. I can respond to God’s goodness by being thankful and by my generous giving. That’s why I give. Why do you?
