… at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:44
Growing up, that question was often used by my mother, intending on correcting me. In reading that scripture again, I expected to find it used more frequently than eight times, and the last time, in Hebrews 10:27 in fearful expectation.
You and I are still growing … still learning, yes, even growing in the knowledge of our Lord and His steadfast love. His steadfast love is mentioned more than 200 times in Scripture.
So, back to the basics … what do you expect? Do we truly expect His love to shine through our daily lives? Love for God and our neighbors should be shared with those around us … especially those of us who may no longer live in a 40 or more-year-old home, but a new home in retirement living. When our earthly days are over, we can expect to be with Jesus in our heavenly home.
