A service in our small Rocky Mountain church can feel heavenly!

In the off season, our small community worships in the intimate, wooden chapel that was built during the gold rush. A few dozen locals are connected to this historic place and to each other. In tourist season, this “household of God” (Ephesians 2:19) looks very different. Three hundred joyous visitors flood the adjacent modern church, making up about 90% of the congregation! It’s inspiring for me to experience this enthusiastic crowd. They have made time in their vacation schedule to join other travelers in giving public thanks to God. Their faith is alive in their eye contact, singing voices, and active listening. I gladly welcome these strangers. It’s obvious that God is with them! They motivate me to celebrate the Holy Spirit, too!
