For by grace, you have been saved through faith.
Ephesians 2:8a
Recently, we decided to remove all the wallpaper in our house. As the workers removed layer after layer of wallpaper, it became harder and harder, requiring more and more scraping and soaking. Watching the workers, I started to feel “Wallpaper Guilt” for putting them through all the extra work.
The many layers of wallpaper reminded me of the many layers of sin people accumulate over their lifetime and the “Lifetime of Guilt” they feel because of it. But there is hope! 1 John 1:9 states, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Because Jesus died on the cross in our place, all the layers of our sin are forgiven and gone. Guilt is replaced by grace!

Lord, help my life reflect the contentment only faith in You can give. Amen.
Reflect: Share your wallpapering story. What lesson did God teach you through it?
