“… that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
Walking along my narrow lakeside road one winter day, I was summoned into the yard of a neighbor couple. Leaning over her deck railing, Sandy said, “We’ve noticed that you sometimes walk late in the day. We’d like you to wear this.” She handed me a neon-yellow reflective vest of the kind her recently retired husband might have worn on the job.
I thanked them and now wear their thoughtful gift on most of my neighborhood walks, especially when daylight is starting to fade. Drivers coming around a bend can readily see me. Moreover, they are seeing the kindness of a brother and sister in Jesus, good works made visible! Some of our caring acts may show as brightly as a neon vest; others may be visible only to God. May His Name be glorified in all!

Dear Holy Spirit, please give me the perception to see the hidden needs that I can help to meet, as well as those that are as obvious as a neon vest! Amen.
Reflect: As you set out on daily activities, seek to show kindness in visible and invisible ways.
